Some Characteristics of Bentonite in Alberta

Abstract: Bentonites are found throughout southern and central Alberta, mainly in Upper Cretaceous strata. Their wide variations in composition and properties are shown in tables which also include their locations and geologic settings. Some of these bentonites have been or are being mined, primarily for use in drilling muds.
